Shawn Gordon

Shawn Gordon is a well-known personality in the data and AI space. In addition to being a proficient, Grammy-nominated musician, he currently serves as a Senior Developer Advocate at Collate, the creators of the open-source project OpenMetadata. He is well known for his entertaining educational content across a wide variety of topics and media.

Career & Background

Shawn’s background includes decades in IT as a customer, vendor, and entrepreneur. In addition, he has worked as a DJ, a record label executive, and an advisor to various companies, from gaming to blockchain.

  • Developer Advocacy & Relations: Spearheading Developer Advocacy and Technical evangelism at companies such as Upsolver, Ahana, Tabular, LanceDB, WarpStream, DeltaStream, and Collate. Creating videos, interactive demos, blogs, and interviews.
  • Commercial Software: Prior to his advocacy work, Shawn founded The Kompany.com, a productivity and developer tool company with over 60 products across five platforms.
  • Music Industry: Computers were supposed to be the stopgap till stardom, but it didn’t work out that way. However, that didn’t stop Shawn from working as a DJ and starting a record label that released over 130 albums with worldwide distribution.
